General description: 

Brown at the top, brown and yellow at the bottom; five and nine yellow spots on the finely punctured pronotum and the elytra, respectively; coarse puncture-stripes with curved, finely wrinkled interspaces. [Translated from the original German in Suffrian, 1863]

Brown on top; mottled brown and yellow underneath; the finely scarred pronotum with seven, the elytra with ten, yellow spots; coarse puncture-stripes with smoothly curved, finely cross-wrinkled interspaces. [Translated from the original German in Suffrian, 1858].

Diagnostic description: 

Pronotum: Dark brown nearly throughout, lateral and apical margins lighter; punctation dual, larger punctures small. Elytra: Dark brown with vaguely to sharply delimited light orange markings on each elytron as follows: a small spot at scutellum; a spot at lateral basal half, with inner posterior margin extending to but not attaining scutellum; a transverse, anteapical band, not attaining side or suture; an apical spot. With eight rows of punctures, sixth and seventh rows confused; punctures becoming finer apically as usual, elsewhere as large and dense as usual; inner and outer rows at apex distinct, not quite meeting. Prosternum: Male with anterior margin produced ventrally into a stout, blunt spine; female not examined. Length: 3.9 mm” (White, 1968: 70).
